Frequently asked questions

What is counselling and how can it help me?

At its heart, counselling is a collaborative talking therapy. It is not about someone giving you advice or telling you what to do. Instead, it is a safe, warm, and entirely confidential sanctuary where you can pause, untangle your thoughts, and explore your feelings without any judgment.

Think of it as a quiet clearing in the woods where you can finally step out of the shadows, drop your heavy bags, and catch your breath with a trained professional by your side.

How do I know if I need counselling?

You don’t have to wait for a crisis to reach out for support; counselling is for anyone who feels stuck, exhausted, or simply out of sync with themselves. You might find therapy helpful if you are struggling with the heavy weight of anxiety, depression, or burnout, navigating a difficult season like bereavement or a major life change, or feeling trapped in a cycle of people-pleasing.

It is also a wonderful space if you are a neurodivergent adult looking for a place where you don't have to mask, or if you simply want a safe clearing to connect your healing with your faith. If you are feeling lost in the shadows and are longing for a warm, non-judgmental space to pause and catch your breath, you deserve to be supported.

What kinds of challenges can you help me with?

My practice integrates professional counselling with Christian foundations, offering clients the option to use scripture and receive prayer. While my faith is foundational to who I am and how I practice, I warmly welcome clients of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds, celebrating the rich diversity each individual brings to our sessions.

Life can feel deeply overwhelming at times, but you do not have to navigate the wilderness alone.

I can support you through a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Burnout
  • Bereavement
  • Isolation
  • Relationships
  • Sexuality
  • Self-esteem
  • Life-changes
  • People-pleasing.

Even if you don't have a clear, defined issue and just have a quiet sense that you are not feeling okay, you are welcome here—together, we can figure it out.

How many sessions should I have?

You are in full control of your therapeutic journey. You can have as many sessions as you like, based entirely on what feels right for you. Booking your appointments online is simple and flexible, putting the schedule completely in your hands.

What will my phone consultation be about?

This call is a very relaxed conversation. I will note down some basic information like your email and phone number, and ask a couple of gentle questions about your previous experience with therapy and what is bringing you to counselling today.

What is an initial assessment?

During this session we will assess:

  • Understanding Your Needs: Exploring your primary concerns, symptoms, and what prompted you to seek counselling at this specific moment.
  • Gathering Personal History: Gently looking at your past experiences, family background, support systems, and any previous therapy.
  • Discussing Health & Wellbeing: Reviewing your current lifestyle, sleep patterns, coping mechanisms, and overall physical and mental health.
  • Setting Goals: Collaboratively defining what positive change, healing, or growth looks like for you.
  • Practical Agreements: Confirming therapy boundaries, fees, session frequency, and confidentiality policies.

What happens in a counselling session?

At its core, this is a talking therapy. We will talk through your challenges—whether that is anxiety, burnout, relationship struggles, or life transitions. Because this is person-centred, I am not here to analyze you or tell you what to do. I am here to listen deeply, offer unconditional empathy, and help you untangle your thoughts in an atmosphere of complete safety.

Are there any requirements for an online counselling session?

You will need:

  • A Reliable Device.
  • Sucure connection to WIFI.
  • Right softwear: I use Microsoft teams or Google meet.
  • Privete room.
  • Headphones.
  • Creative materials or a Bible if this is how you would like to engage in our sessions.
